The Willow Suite Weddings

Our splendid Willow suite is a spectacular purpose built function room, which has just undergone a fabulous makeover, with a high vaulted ceiling offering a open spacious feeling, the French windows open out on to the beautiful gardens bringing natural light to the entire room, and it offers the very best in facilities for every occasion.  The Willow suite can easily accommodate up to 130 guests for an afternoon wedding breakfast and 200 + for an evening reception.  The suite has a beautiful private entrance lobby and is graced by a charming Clock Tower at the entrance, making the suite totally self contained and the perfect choice. The costs below are based on a Friday, Saturday or bank holiday Sundays. Discounts are available for week day weddings.

Our Restaurant Weddings

For those wishing to have a more intimate wedding of 70 for the wedding breakfast and a 100 for the evening reception we offer our beautiful restaurant, tastefully decorated with a modern twist, with beautiful views from the conservatory overlooking the gardens and direct accesses to our Victorian glazed veranda.

Our restaurant has been decorated in soft pastel colours; the tables have been exclusively designed, made from cherry wood and finished with black granite table tops. The chairs were imported from Holland, manufactured by Joris trading; therefore there is no need for the additional costs for hiring chair covers or room decoration. However we do offer a room and table decoration service for those who like additional touches. The restaurant carries a reduced room hire of £100.00

 

 

There is a charge for all Oakland’s Wedding Packages which is £275.00

and includes the following  :

Bar

The Willow Suite bar is licensed until 1.00am, if residents and their guests would like anything further the hotel bar is open until 2.00am Friday and Saturday. To extend the licensing hours in the willow suite see our wedding co-ordinator. Extended licences £50.00

Civil Wedding Ceremony

At The Oakland's we are licensed to hold Civil Wedding Ceremonies, if you are interested please give us a call or drop in for a chat, we would be only too happy to help.  There is a room hire charge for Civil Ceremonies of £185.  The Registry Office number for Chester is 0300 1237037.

Music

Whatever your music requirements we can help with the arrangements, whether it is a disco or something a little different.  If you require a disco you may use our resident D.J., the cost is £250.00, please make us aware of your intentions within the letter of confirmation. We also have access to a wide variety of bands and solo artists, If you require assistance with any of your arrangements please do not hesitate to contact us, we would be only to happy to help.

Accommodation

At the Oakland’s we have 13 bedrooms, there are a mixture of double, double for single occupancy, twin rooms and a family room, the rooms are not booked automatically, if you would like to book bedrooms for your guests then we require a non refundable deposit of £20.00 per remaining room, along with a letter of confirmation.  This is then returned to you after the Wedding, providing all rooms were used.  This deposit is in addition to the deposit for the Wedding Reception as stated at the end of the brochure.

Corkage

We have compiled the listed drinks packages to offer as wide a range as possible for our customers, we believe it offers an excellent choice and therefore we do not allow guests to bring their own drinks to functions.  If you are not happy with the wine on offer then the full wine list is available

Table Decoration

As standard we provide white linen table cloths, paper napkins, all glasses, silverware free of charge.

For those who prefer something a little different we can provide the following at a charge

Coloured table cloths including Ivory, Black for evening, Red etc.

Napkins: Linen napkins folded or fanned. We also offer a hand made napkin adornment to include ribbon, flowers, beads, hearts, bows, butterflies etc

Centre pieces for the tables include glass mirrors, glass bowls with floating candles, tall glass vases to accommodate quality bride flowers arrangements or fresh flowers, table candles, confetti, glitter, flowers, balloons, cameras, favours.

We offer a bespoke service for designing table plans and place settings to match your colour schemes.

Wedding Etiquette

To aid you in the planning of your day and assist in its smooth running, we have compiled this list of useful things for you to bear in mind.  These details are useful whether you have chosen a formal or informal arrangement, these points do help to keep things looking professional.

The Receiving Line

This offers the Bride and Groom the opportunity to meet and greet all of their guests, and for the guests to offer personal notes of congratulation.  It also gives the parents of the Bride and Groom the ideal opportunity to meet the guests who are there to share your happy day.

 

The line would usually consist of:

The Grooms Father

 

The line would normally be in this order, although changes are easily made.

Grace

If Grace is to be said it would normally fall upon the Vicar or a Family Friend to say it.  The M.C. / Toastmaster is also available to say it if you have not chosen a particular person.

The Top Table

Who sits at the Top Table with the Bride and Groom is adaptable by yourselves, the traditional way however is as follows :

Speeches

To take away the worry of the speeches and their order, we have produced the following guide, this should give you a good indication of what should happen and who should make which announcements.  Traditionally the Best Man or the M.C. announces the cutting of the cake once coffee has been served.  On cutting the cake, the Groom should take the knife and place it near the centre of the bottom tier, his wife should then place her left hand over his, and together they push the knife into the heart of the cake.  This completes the formal cutting of the cake and the staff will then remove it for portioning and distribution to your guests.

The speeches follow the cutting of the cake, these can be introduced individually by the M.C., or by the Best Man.  The order of the speeches would normally be as follows:

The Brides Father

The Brides Father proposes a toast to the Bride and Groom, he makes his speech first, which would normally be of a semi - serious nature and possibly cover :

1. The happiness he and his wife have experienced bringing up their daughter.

2. A couple of interludes in her life.

3. A welcome into the family to their new son - in - law.

4. An episode concerning the Bride and Groom.

5. The toast to health, wealth and happiness of the couple.

 

The Bridegroom

It is customary for the Bridegroom to reply on behalf of his wife and himself, thanking the guests for their good wishes and gifts, their parents and all those who have helped to make their Wedding day a success, concluding with the Bridesmaids.  The Bridegroom would at this point present any gifts that need to be given, and then propose a toast to the Bridesmaids. He may also like to refer to:

 

1. The thanks he owes to his parents and anything they may have provided for the couples future.

2. The thanks he owes to his wife's parents and anything they may have provided for the couples future, especially the birth of their daughter.

3. Perhaps a short interlude in his meeting with his wife.

4. A reference to the Bridesmaids and his thanks for their help during the day.

 

The Best Man

The Best Man responds on behalf of the Bridesmaids.  The speech should be as light and humorous as possible.  He may refer to :

 

1. The Grooms luck in meeting his Bride.

2. The difficulty in getting the Groom to the alter

3. A few well chosen stories on the Grooms character, but never referring to ex - girlfriends, politics or religion.

4. He may read some of the cards from well-wishers who could not attend.

5. And of course, the thanks of the Bridesmaids for the compliments of the Groom

 

The Best mans speech would usually conclude the formal proceedings of the day.

The Duties of the Toastmaster / M.C.

The Toastmaster / M.C. is usually the Manager on duty on the day of your Wedding, they are there to look after you and your guests and to perform special duties to make things easier for you.

The M.C. will meet and greet you and your guests at the entrance of the Willow Suite and direct you to the arrival area, where the arrival drinks will be served.  They will help to organise the guests for photographs and arrange the receiving line.  Their next task will be to introduce yourselves into the reception room to a standing ovation from your guests and helping you to your seats, at this point they will introduce whom ever is saying Grace or say Grace for you depending on the arrangements made.  From here they will ensure things are kept running smoothly for you until it is time to cut the cake, at which time the Best Man or themselves will call on you to cut the cake, after which the cake will be removed.  The speeches follow the cutting of the cake and the M.C. will introduce each speech in turn, according to the arrangements made.

During the evening the M.C. takes on a slightly different roll where they are there to help if you encounter any problems but leave you to enjoy the evening.

 

To Make Your Booking

- First check with us to ensure that your chosen date is available.

 

- Make a provisional booking, this will be held for a period of 14 days.  The deposit is required by the end of this time to maintain the booking. If the deposit is not received by then end of this time the provisional booking will be removed from the diary.

 

- The non refundable deposit is £500.00 and is required to secure your booking, along with a letter of confirmation which should include your estimated numbers and the full names of bride and groom, along with a contact telephone number and address.

 

- Approximately two months before your Wedding please make an appointment to see us and finalise your requirements.

 

- One week prior to the Wedding the outstanding amount is payable. (any differences for either party will be settled within seven days of the Wedding.)

 

- Children to the age of 12 are charged at half of the adults price for a Half Portion.  Children under 2 years of age are free of charge.

 

- V.A.T. is included in all prices at the current rate of 17.5%.(this is subject to change without prior notice.)

 

- Please note prices and charges shown in this brochure are correct at time of print and are valid until 31st December 2008 (excluding wine, drinks and D.J which are not set by ourselves), and are subject to change without prior notice.  All Bank Holiday Weekends are excluded from our special offers.

 

- We reserve the right to offer an alternative, of equivalent or greater value, should an item become temporarily unavailable.

 

- It is a recommendation at the Oakland’s Hotel that wedding parties take out wedding insurance as added security to cover all eventualities.

 

 

Cancellation

 

-         Your initial deposit of £500.00 is non - refundable.

 

-         Any confirmed Wedding, cancelled within six months of the dated booked will be subject to a cancellation charge
